Software has evolved. We’re the new species.
Every photography CRM charges you $35–60 per month whether you book a single job or not. We think that model is broken. Here’s how we do it differently.
The subscription model is broken.
The software industry trained everyone to accept monthly subscriptions. Pay $36/month whether you use the product or not. Quiet month? Still paying. Taking a break? Still paying. Just starting out with zero clients? Still paying.
This model works great for the software company. It’s terrible for you. It means your software vendor has zero incentive to help you succeed — they get paid either way.
How Clearframe works instead.
The photographer pays nothing. Not “nothing for the first month.” Not “nothing for one project.” Nothing, period. No subscription. No annual fee. No hidden charges. Ever.
How we make money
When your clients pay an invoice through Clearframe, a small processing fee is added to their payment. This is the same model your clients see when they pay for anything online — Uber, Airbnb, Eventbrite, any ticketing platform. Clients understand and expect payment processing fees.
That’s it. That single revenue stream funds the entire platform — the CRM, the AI phone system, the email marketing, Pulse AI, everything.
Why this model is better for you
Aligned incentives
We only make money when you make money. We’re directly incentivized to help you book more jobs, send better quotes, and close more deals. A subscription vendor gets paid whether your business grows or dies.
Zero risk to try
No credit card required. No commitment. Use Clearframe for a month without processing a single payment and it costs you exactly $0. You can run both systems in parallel while you transition.
No quiet-month penalty
Seasonal photographer? Taking December off? Slow January? Your software bill is $0. Subscription CRMs charge you $36+ whether you book or not.
No startup penalty
Just starting your photography business? You shouldn’t be paying $420/year for software before you’ve booked your first client. With Clearframe, you don’t.
No subscriptions. Ever.
This isn’t a promotional offer. It’s not a “free for the first year” deal. It’s not a limited free tier with the real features locked behind a paywall.
Clearframe Core will always be free for photographers. Every feature. Every add-on. No subscription, ever. We commit to this because it’s not generosity — it’s our business model. The processing fee on client payments is sustainable, scalable, and fair.
Software has evolved. The subscription model was invented when software came on CDs and needed to fund ongoing server costs. Today, the marginal cost of serving one more user is nearly zero. The old model persists not because it has to — but because no one bothered to change it.
We bothered.
Why we built Clearframe.
Clearframe was born in a real commercial photography studio in Melbourne. We were paying for HoneyBook, Mailchimp, a separate phone service, and still spending hours on admin that should have been automated.
So we built the system we wanted. An AI phone that answers when we’re on shoots. An email inbox that classifies and responds. A quoting system where one click takes a lead from enquiry to booked. An AI assistant that watches everything and surfaces problems before they become crises.
And then we thought: why would we charge photographers a subscription for this? The subscription model is a tax on running a business. We’d rather grow with you.
Full transparency on costs.
We believe in being completely open about where costs exist.
